Fast Facts

A major player in premium dry foods for cats and dogs, Royal Canin is an international brand with a presence in more than 90 countries. The company makes more than 90 percent of its sales on the international market which will represent over one billion Euros in 2006. In 2007 Royal Canin employs 4 000 staff, of more than 70% are based outside France.
Royal Canin is a unique brand which innovates without the help of market or consumer research. The business concentrates all its resources exclusively on constantly improving its knowledge of the brand’s only real clients : the Dog and the Cat and their precise nutritional needs. For Royal Canin, the prescriber’s (Breeders and Veterinarians) and Specialised Distribution are most important partners to convey the Health Nutrition message to dog and cat owners.

Sharing the same passion

If you are tempted by the adventure Royal Canin offers, you will be joining people of different cultures and profile who are united by the same passion for the dog and cat.
Demanding of themselves, all Royal Canin people have a strong attachment to their brand, within an organisation which requires quick action and commitment.
With nearly 4,000 employees, 70 percent of which outside of France, the company favours graduates with an international profile and dual qualifications (e.g. veterinary degree plus a postgraduate diploma in health marketing).
With deep understanding of the mentalities and specifics of each country, our teams work to convey our culture and brand image and train importers and their sales forces to assimilate the Group’s values.

Integration of new recruits at Royal Canin

New recruits take part in a series of integration courses in different units, knowledge-sharing and teamwork being a priority at Royal Canin.
New team members also take part in an international integration seminar to help them assimilate the corporate strategy and to network with others. New recruits then follow complementary training modules suited to their specific career path.
Developing multitasking (holding several responsibilities within the same job) and multiple skills (experience in several positions in different areas of the company) among employees is one strong focus in our human resource strategy.
The Human Resources services create bridges between careers towards developing interface management and promoting interdepartmental mobility through training.

Here are the reactions of some of our most recent graduates

Why did you want to join Royal Canin ?

Being part of a company which built its history on innovation and pioneering is one of the reasons that attracted me at a first glance. However, instrumental to make me want to be part of this team was the unique way that people and business are managed. While in one side we find a familial atmosphere in which more experienced employees are willing to help rookies sharing their experiences, stories, achievements and recommendations, on the other side we can find a company which is result-oriented, performance-driven and which is ready to reward those with the highest degree of talent.
The combination of a high-calibre team of technical professionals and business people, focused on one single objective: making things different and innovating in their own fields, truly sets RC apart from any other company. “

What did you think about the Royal Canin Sales and Marketing Graduate Programme?

“The integration process was very intense and very well organised. In a few months we could see the whole business process going from fabrication to distribution and learn a lot about the company, its culture and its business methods. We toured both manufacturing sites at opposite sides of the country. Working at dog and cat shows on weekends took us to the exotic locations of Nice, Monaco, Lyon, Paris & Bordeaux.
“In fact, this graduate program seemed to be a review of all management tools and the analysis of their adaptation to Royal Canin business model. The knowledge of basic concepts in marketing, finance and business policy helped me a lot in understanding the strategy of the group and my further mission.”

The best thing about your current role?

“I am constantly learning something new and I am interacting with people from all over the world. It is a unique and amazing experience.”
“The independence and the chance to put your name to a project and its results. The beauty of Royal Canin is that they will reward for hard work. Some countries have well-established sales cycles and others are developing or as yet untapped. It’s great to know that there is work to sink your teeth into. The back-up is there, our nutritional replies are second to none.”
Graduate Program
The Group has posted excellent results for the past few years now and is recruiting for a Sales/Marketing incubator to accompany its exceptional growth. These young bi-cultural graduates with a background of business studies will undergo an integration period of 18 months to two years, during which they will occupy posts in various departments within the company. At the end of this training programme, these young graduates will constitute the future management teams for our subsidiaries in: Russia, Japan, China, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, Sweden, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Colombia and Uruguay.

You graduated from a business school (or equivalent) and have between 1 and 4 years of experience in a sales or marketing post.

In addition to your native language, you also speak fluent French and English and wish to pursue an international career."

It’s character that counts!

Royal Canin recruits young graduates with strong potential who are mobile and passionately interested in practical work aspects and who are open to the international scene and to learning new languages. Over and above training, Royal Canin is first and foremost seeking a mindset – involvement, multitasking, reactivity and team spirit are all major advantages when becoming part of one of our teams.
